The ‘offline’ message displays as the printer status or message ‘printer not responding’ is shown when you make an effort to print. If Mac system cannot communicate to the printer, the offline error will be indicated. If the printer is turned off, the offline error will be displayed or a USB cable connection is detached.

Reset the printer. First, check whether the printer is idle without any sounds before starting. Then, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer. Next, unplug the power cord from the wall outlet. Now, wait for a few minutes. Lastly, plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.

If you see multiple printers from the printer list, then remove the extra entries. Next, search Print in Mac, click Print & Fax, Print & Scan or Printers & Scanners in list of results. Then, find the printer names that match your printer from the list of devices. In case the issue did not resolve, go for the next step.

The printer queue which is available at present should be deleted. Add the printer and by clicking the Add button in the Printer list. Next, click your printer Name. Then, Click Add and click Print Using and pick your printer name or AirPrint.

Reset the printing system if the above mentioned does not work. Resetting the printer will gain new connection from the internet and computer. The connection which might be broken will be corrected automatically after reset. Try resetting the system at once.

Initially disconnect the USB cable and reconnect it to the Mac. Turn off the printer and wait for a few seconds. Turn on the printer after a few minutes.

At early stages, the printer might make some noise to print the pages. The printer should be idle and silent before proceeding.

Wait for a few seconds to reconnect the USB cable. If the printer starts to print, let it finish printing before continuing.

If the printer prints, you can stop the troubleshooting. In case the issue is not resolved, move on to the next step.

Initially check the Printer list on your computer to make sure that your printer is connected to your computer. Restart the printer and wait for the printer to become idle.
