After setting up the HP DeskJet 5810 printer hardware and software, you will have to print a test page to check how the printer prints a page for first time. If you are not able to print a test page, check whether the cable connections are protected. Check whether the HP DeskJet 5810 printer is turned on. If it is on the power button will be lit green.
To check whether the HP DeskJet 5810 printer is set as your default printing device, follow the instructions given below.
On Windows 7 Operating system, click Start menu and click Devices and Printers.
On Windows Vista operating system, click Start menu on the windows Taskbar. Click Control panel and click Printer.
On Windows XP, click Start on the Windows taskbar, click Control panel and click Printers and Faxes.
Check whether your HP DeskJet 5810 printer has a check mark in the circle next to it. If your printer is not chosen as the default printer, right-click on the printer icon and select “Set as Default Printer” from the menu.
If the problem still persists, take off the installation CD from the CD/DVD drive of your computer. Disconnect the USB cable from the computer. Now restart your computer. Insert the HP DeskJet 5810 software installation CD in the computer’s CD/DVD drive. Follow the instructions on the screen to install the printer software. You should not connect the USB cable until you are prompted to do so.
Restart the computer again after you finish the printer software installation successfully.
